From the Getting Started Series
This is another (hopefully fun!) version of the “Now Doodle” from a few weeks back. Like that challenge, this one is all about taking on those not-right-now reasons and showing them who’s boss! At work? On the bus? On a deserted island? It’s great to know you can create anywhere and anytime you want.
I also like this activity because it’s a great example of how resources and inspiration can start to appear the moment you decide to stop debating and make a move. I went back and forth for a long time about if this challenge would work or not, but the second I committed to just doing it, my living room was suddenly filled with a plethora of eye, nose, and mouth shaped objects. I actually couldn’t stop making faces once I started!
Art Challenge
Time At least 5 minutes
You Need Whatever’s around you
What to do
- Use whatever you have around you right now to create a sculpture of a face.
- Take a photo of it.
- Optional (and awesome): Post your photos on instagram with the #makeartlifeface so we can enjoy it!
Reflection
- Did any reasons about why you couldn’t do right now pop into your head as you read the challenge?
- Did any of these “not-right-now” reasons seem totally convincing? Were you able to do the challenge anyway?
- What did you notice once you decided to dive in?
Life Challenge
Throughout the week notice when you’re being held back by your “not-right-now” reasons. Challenge yourself to prove them wrong by getting started!
