You Can Quote Me On That

From the Giving Series

It’s been a tough week for many of us. After Tuesday, I desperately wanted to stick my head deep in the sand for the next 4 years, but I also couldn’t shake the desire to do something, anything, in the name of peace and possibility in these uncertain times.

So, for this week’s challenge I thought it would be nice to create illustrated inspirational quotes. My co-workers and I displayed ours in the office kitchen with the intent of showering those who pass with a dose of positivity. No official poll has been conducted, but according to anecdotal evidence, it’s working! (Anyway, apparently it doesn’t matter what the pollsters say…)

Seriously though, I think it’s so important to remember that as creative beings we have the ability to envision and share beautiful possibilities regardless of the situation. So, let’s do it! Let’s make art that lifts others up and inspires all of us to greater heights. Such creations, in any form, are a precious and much needed gift to our communities and the world.

Art Challenge

Time At least 10 minutes
You Need: Any paper and drawing/painting/writing tools will work. We used half-sheets of colored half cardstock and markers. Mounting it on a slightly larger piece of cardstock makes it look extra nice!

What to do

  1. Pick a favorite quote you think will encourage, enlighten, or delight others.
  2. Illustrate the quote.
  3. Post it up some place where others can enjoy it.
  4. Optional (and awesome!): Share your illustrated quote on instagram with #makeartlifequote and it will pop up in the feed below so we can all enjoy it!
